ABOUT BSOB-PPIF
BSOB is stands for Badan Semi Otonomi Beasiswa (semi autonomy scholarship division) which is part of the Indonesian student association in Fukuoka (PPIF). BSOB was found in 2002, soon as the idea and concept about it emerged. BSOB has been a part of PPIF annual activity since May 2003. Many Japanese organizations which have similar concern in education for Indonesian children, had been involved in many BSOB activities. This division tries to providing aid to many poor students in Indonesia whom have strong passion in accomplishing their basic education, by distributing scholarship for them.

In 1997/1998 the economic crisis had hit many places around the world including Indonesia. Since then, the economic crisis had increase the percentage of people who live bellow the poverty line. Countless of middle scale industries and small scale industries tried to do many kind of effort to help them survive. Some of them chose to cut the number of employee within their company while others had no other option but to close their company.
Turned out the economic crisis was not only influencing the economic and industrial sectors, thousands of children in Indonesia must face the fact that they can not continue their education because their parents can no longer support the financial basis. As an emerging country, this situation is huge issue for Indonesia. Children are the future of the country, and education has great power in developing a great nation and great future, there is no doubt in it.
The Indonesian government has been trying to put more attention in this national education area. This could be indicated by the number of APBN (Indonesian National Budget) that have been allocated for education in 2007 is around 11.8% from total national budget. Nevertheless the government could not tackle this issue by themselves. Our role as a part of better wealth society and well educated society is necessary.
Currently there are thousands of Indonesian children who remain can not continue their education because lack of financial basis. And we, Indonesian Student Association in Fukuoka (PPIF), have been trying to give them aid by collecting and distributing scholarships for elementary school student and junior high school student across the country. We are truly expecting aid and support from the entire Indonesian who reside in Fukuoka, Japanese citizens and any organizations in Japan, in order to succeed our program.
